## Introduction: The Cruel Reality of “Being Drowned in Pleasure”

The shocking event that took place between Femto and Casca during the Eclipse in Berserk. For years, fans have debated whether “she suffered purely as a victim” or whether “she gave in to pleasure.”

However, in panic and in extreme situations, the human body can react with terrifying sensitivity, regardless of what the person feels. The true horror of what happened to Casca is not that she willingly enjoyed pleasure. It is that, at the hands of the demonic (the God Hand), her “body’s physiological responses” and her “past feelings of love” were bound together in the worst possible way, and she was locked, with no way out, inside an irresistible “pleasure of the highest degree.”

There is a view that Casca, although she felt intense sexual pleasure, never drowned in it and held on to feelings of rejection such as fear and pain. At first glance, this interpretation seems to protect Casca’s pride and dignity.

But turned around, this view risks passing a cruel judgment: “Anyone who could not resist physiological pleasure has surrendered as a human being (has lost their honor).” Would that not, without our realizing it, deny the dignity not only of a fictional character but also of real people whose bodies have been forced to react by an overload beyond their control?

Rather, recognizing that “physical and physiological stimulation in an extreme situation can easily overpower reason” is what can offer salvation to those who have survived an inescapable hell.

For example, just as even a highly trained spy, subjected to prolonged and brutal physical torture, may confess secrets against the will of the mind, no one can blame a body that has been exposed to physiological overload. The horror that befell Casca was exactly this: “an overload of the physical and the physiological that went beyond the mind.”
